Fantasy Football: Starts And Sits Week 7 2021
By Pat Pitts
It’s Week 7 of the NFL season and that means that players need to take it to the next level. It's that time of the week where we assemble your rosters like The Avengers to make sure you take down your competition.
START
Quarterbacks
Matt Stafford vs DET
Matthew Stafford is in the MVP conversation and that’s going to continue in a revenge game against the Lions. Stafford is only coming out of your lineup when the Rams have their Bye week.
Derek Carr vs PHI
Carr threw for over 300 yards last week, the fourth time he’s done so this season. He also had a pair of touchdowns for the fifth time this season. The Raiders matchup has the potential to be a shootout, so fire up Carr with ease.
Sam Darnold @ NYG
Darnold has struggled without Christian McCaffery, but if there’s anything that could help get Carolina’s QB back on track, it’s a matchup with the Giants.
Running Backs
Cordarrelle Patterson vs MIA
Every game this season, Patterson has finished with double digit fantasy points. His consistent play has earned him a Top-24 RB ranking, and in some leagues he also has WR designation. The The Dolphins have been an up and down roller coaster this year, so you can play Patterson with little hesitation.
Kenyan Drake vs PHI
The Raiders remembered Kenyan Drake exists once they got rid of Jon Gruden. Drake could be a sneaky FLEX play against an Eagles defense that has struggled stopping the run.
Aaron Jones vs WFT
Washington’s defense has yet to replicate their play from last season. They have allowed the most rushing yards in the league. Aaron Jones should be able to wreak havoc at Lambeau this weekend on the ground. Jones has the potential to finish as the overall RB1 this week with some heavy hitters on their Bye week.
Wide Receivers
DJ Moore @ NYG
Moore is the Panthers WR1 without question and the Giants still stink out loud. You know the drill.
Every Rams WR vs DET
Matthew Stafford is going to be slinging the rock against his former team all afternoon and will most likely get everyone involved in the process. This is the “Avengers! Assemble.” Play of the Week.
Jakobi Meyers vs NYJ
Meyers is the only WR in NFL HISTORY with over 1,000 receiving yards and zero touchdowns in a career. Mac Jones has shown that he trusts Meyers more than Captain America trusts Bucky Barnes. Meyers is a certified LOCK to score this week and continue his tear as a potent PPR WR3.
Tight Ends
C.J. Uzomah vs BAL
Uzomah has become a valuable part of the Bengals game plan, as he’s scored three touchdowns over the last three weeks. He’s a TE2 in a matchup against Baltimore that should be quite the matchup.
Will Dissly vs NO
Will Dissely benefited from Geno Smith needing a checkdown option, as he scored his first touchdown of the season. He should continue to see increased production in Week 7.
Zach Ertz vs HOU
The Cardinals traded for Ertz following the Eagles Thursday night loss to the Bucs in Week 6. He joins the All-Star cast in Arizona, instantly increasing his fantasy value. The Texans are a BAD football team and Ertz should see his fantasy stock rise as Kyler Murray’s safety blanket.
SIT
Quarterbacks
Jared Goff @ LAR
Goff wrapped up his abysmal Week 6 performance getting called out by Head Coach Dan Campbell in the coach’s postgame press conference. No better way to follow that up than a matchup against the team who traded you away this offseason, in your former home stadium, and having to escape Aaron Donald and company. No thank you!
Geno Smith vs NO
Geno Smith played very well against the Steelers. However, it did not translate onto the fantasy gridiron. I expect the Seahawks to use the running game as their primary form of offense, making Smith not worth rostering, let alone starting.
Daniel Jones vs CAR
Daniel Jones is bad and if he’s on your fantasy roster, it might be time to start looking toward next season.
Running Backs
James Conner vs HOU
Chase Edmonds has been the better overall RB this season for the Cardinals. It has been Conner’s size and power run style that managers rely on in the red zone. Edmonds will have more success than Conner against the Texans.
Baltimore RBs vs CIN
Lamar Jackson leads the Ravens in rushing this season and you shouldn’t be relying on Pro Bowl RBs of future’s past to help you get through Week 7 against a pretty solid Bengals defense.
Antonio Gibson @ GB
Gibson slips down the fantasy rankings every week as he continues to deal with nagging injuries. J.D. McKissic vultures a lot of Gibson’s carries and targets, specifically in the red zone. Find a better option that might be chilling on your bench.
Wide Receivers
Brandin Cooks @ ARI
Cooks has scored over ten fantasy points once in the past three weeks. The Cardinals continue to steamroll over teams, and the Texans are roadkill. Cooks won’t even be close to relevant unless he gets traded before the deadline.
Allen Robinson II vs TB
Robinson deserves to be in a high-powered offense, not one that is in a rebuild. Justin Fields has struggled against worse defenses this season, forcing Robinson out on his own island this week (he most certainly is an Island Boy).
Mike Evans @ CHI
Evans has been the odd man out nearly every game this season. Even O.J. Howard finished with more fantasy points last week. I expect the same against a stealthy Bears defense.
Tight Ends
Ricky Seals-Jones @ GB
Tight Ends have not played well against Green Bay this season. However, Seals-Jones will float back to reality dealing with the Packers defense that keeps adding star power week to week.
Mo Allie-Cox @ SF
Allie-Cox has been average this season, but the 49ers’ defense remains a threat to opposing offenses. Wentz needs to worry about getting the ball out of his hands faster than the pass rush he’ll be facing, making Allie-Cox a less than ideal option in primetime.
Anthony Firkser vs KC
Firkser complimented Jonnu Smith well last season for the Titans, but has struggled to carry the show on his own. He has yet to finish with over double-digit fantasy points in 2021. He’s borderline droppable at this point and shouldn’t be started in standard fantasy leagues.
