Fantasy Football: Week 6 Waiver Wire Targets 2021

By Pat Pitts

Fantasy football rosters may need some improvement after this week’s list of injured players and poor performances. We also felt we needed improving and showcased new branding for our show! The solution lies within the waiver wire as managers adjust their lineups for Week Six. Here are my claims of the week heading into another exciting slate of NFL football.

Davis Mills (Rostered in <1% of ESPN leagues and 1% of Yahoo leagues)

Mills torched the Patriots defense on Sunday, throwing for 312 yards, two touchdowns and not a single turnover. As bye weeks approach, Week 5’s QB6 could be a player to roster and stream if you’re a Russell Wilson or Daniel Jones manager.

Matt Ryan (Rostered in 29.5% of ESPN leagues and 54% of Yahoo leagues)

Ryan played his best game of 2021 across the pond against the New York Jets. Ryan finished with 342 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The Falcons are on the bye this week, however Ryan faces a beat up Dolphins defense in Week 7. Swipe him up now before the rest of your league needs him.

Teddy Bridgewater (Rostered in 17% of ESPN leagues and 18% of Yahoo leagues)

Teddy Bridgewater is the model of consistency. Over his last four games, he averaged 279 passing yards and 2.5 touchdowns. He keeps fantasy teams in matchups making him someone to roster for bye weeks and injuries.

Running Backs

Devontae Booker (Rostered in 3.8% of ESPN leagues and 7% of Yahoo leagues)

Booker scored a pair of touchdowns and rushed for 58 yards after he replaced Saquon Barkley following his ankle injury on Sunday. Booker helped Daniel Jones and Mike Glennon immensely on Sunday, but the Giants better hope Jones can get healthy to make Booker worth rostering. He’s a speculative RB3 add.

Ty Johnson (Rostered in 5% of ESPN leagues and Yahoo leagues)

Johnson played his best game of the season against the Falcons, finishing with over five fantasy points (11.40) for the first time this year. The Jets seem to utilize all of their ball carriers in a week to week offense, making Johnson a RB to roster in deeper/dynasty leagues.

Gio Bernard (Rostered in 11% of ESPN leagues and 16% of Yahoo leagues)

Bernard bounced back from missing last week’s contest against the Patriots by finding the end zone in the Buccaneers dominant win against the Dolphins. Bernard has been used more than Ronald Jones in 2021, as his play style compliments Tom Brady’s passing game approach, which means that this tandem is not stopping anytime soon.

Wide Receivers

Kadarius Toney (Rostered in 12% of ESPN leagues and 18% of Yahoo leagues)

Toney led the Giants receivers in targets (13), receptions (10) and yards (189). Toney has the chance to become a consistent WR2 for teams if he can continue this level of production, but also needs Daniel Jones to get healthy as quickly as possible for him to be worth putting into your lineups.

Chris Moore (Rostered in 0% of ESPN leagues and Yahoo leagues)

Moore came out of hiding on Sunday, almost leading the Texans to an upset win over the Patriots, catching all five of his targets for 109 yards and a touchdown. He may be a flash in the pan, but with the amount of injuries occuring every week, he’s worth a waiver claim for incoming bye weeks.

Tim Patrick (Rostered in 29% of ESPN leagues and 31% of Yahoo leagues)

Tim Patrick makes another appearance on the waiver wire list after his solid performance against the Steelers. He caught seven of his nine targets for 89 yards. He needs to be rostered in more leagues as the clear WR2 in Denver’s injury riddled WR group.

Tight Ends

David Njoku (Rostered in 2% of ESPN leagues and 3% of Yahoo leagues)

Njoku finished Week five as TE2 overall, catching all seven of his targets for 149 yards and a touchdown. Baker Mayfield thrives when he spreads the ball around, making Njoku someone he and fantasy managers can potentially rely on for the rest of the season as a low end TE1.

Hunter Henry (Rostered in 36% of ESPN leagues and 46% of Yahoo leagues)

Henry launched himself back into fantasy relevance with his performance against the Texans on Sunday, catching six passes for 75 yards and a touchdown. Henry can hold onto the ball, which makes him the Patriots TE to roster over Jonnu Smith.

Hayden Hurst (Rostered in 1% of ESPN leagues and 2% of Yahoo leagues)

Hurst caught a touchdown and four passes for 40 yards against the Jets in London. When Matt Ryan is hot, Hurst usually falls in line. If you put a claim on Ryan, you should also grab Hurst for potential double points.

Nick Folk (Rostered in 8.3% of ESPN leagues and 19% of Yahoo leagues)

Potential history for the Waiver Wire blog? A mid-game development on Monday night had Rodrigo Blankeship managers nervous as could be when a sideline report came across the broadcast that the Colts kicker is dealing with an injury. He could miss some time and if that’s the case, go snag the #1 fantasy kicker while you can.
